APRIL 2011 It's nearly Easter and I'm racking my canine brain for something different to make for my next card class. Perhaps I'll converse with my hubby for some suggestions. That was a dead loss as his only suggestion was bunnies - the playboy type! We finally came up with a design for an Easter card which I thought was quite unique. The class was advertised but not before I requested they don't mention Joey's name as being my assistant. That way I'd know if he was the only draw... Which I think he is! sob... sob... A few days before the scheduled class, management contacted me with concerns of only two people being interested and asked if I wanted to cancel. Of course I said no. Due to the lack of interest I suggested they now mention Joey's attendance. Once his name was listed the calls came in and my class was fully booked within a few hours. The class was limited to only twenty with a cancellation waiting list of 30. Better luck next time is all I can say! I brought a few goodies for everyone to create with the intention of creating a calming effect in case anyone annoys me and I have a repeat of my February class temper tantrum. With that in mind I placed individual goody bags beside each craft area. Everyone soon arrived and were most interested in the bags until they opened them and found only fresh organic carrots and peanuts, not shelled of course. What did they expect - caviar? Cheapskates! Next time they can buy their own. Eventually everyone settled down but only after Joey arrived on the scene. Talk about being mesmerized! Actually he does have that affect on us canine girlies. I think it's his big golden eyes - I should know as I was once mesmerized myself! I then gave my instruction speech and everyone started in on their cards with the exception of one class member, Dodie the dachshund who was crunching on her carrots. Joey was instructed to intervene, which he did in a most charming manner. With pieces of carrot entwined in her fangs Dodie asked him to assist her with the card she hadn't yet started. I'm beginning to wonder if it was her intention to have him for herself all along - only she knows for sure but I know the others were not happy and neither was I. Within a short while everyone resumed their card making and I took a deep breath of satisfaction knowing everything was working out - or so I thought! What I din';t know was that Joey and Dodie had moved to another private table where he was giving her his undivided attention in card making. That soon came to an end when I confronted him about leaving the other crafters in the lurch. His sullen snout soon appeared at our table with Dodie and the class resumed in dead silence until I decided to crunch on one of the carrots which broke the silence! Everyone then followed through and we all had a crunching good time and departed on a good note, for once.... Until next time HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!
