FEBRUARY 2011 February is going to be a good month as my favorite crafty store asked me to fill in temporarily for one of their instructors. After my initial excitement I was in panic mode trying to figure out what I could make for Valentine’s Day when an idea came to mind which would include my hubby, Joey. I quickly listed what was needed, throw away camera, glittery mask, fluffy white throw, red card stock, glitter hearts, etc… You must wonder what type of class it’s going to be…just wait and see! The day of my class arrived and we transported all the supplies over to the store. Before Joey entered yappy Taffy and security gal Bella were directed to an upstairs office where they could survey everything in a safer environment. We then set everything up behind a screen where Joey would wait patiently for the click of a camera… With the class settled I explained that we were going to do a photo shoot first. Unfortunately most didn’t know what I was talking about… Oh well, just a minor annoyance about being an instructor so I began explaining. After that the class went wild as they wanted to see the hunk – something I wasn’t expecting. To get some sort of semblance I chose the voluptuous Ruby Red-Setter to accompany me first to see our Valentine boy. We moved the screen and there he was – posing in a provocative sort of way on the fluffy white throw wearing only his glittery mask and a red heart which was placed over a strategic area. Ruby took one look at him and swooned into a heap on the floor. Oh well – one down and ten more to go. With Ruby still out I snapped his picture for her card and then instructed the rest of the class to do the same but in an orderly fashion. After some name calling, wolf whistles and pushing everyone got their picture. I think this group gives new meaning to the word “ladies”. The class finally settled down after Joey promised to sit with them at the crafty table. With the picture of their heart throb, Joey the Valentine Boy, in hand everyone finished their cards within the allotted time with the exception of Ruby who was so mesmerized with Joey that she couldn’t concentrate on anything – except him. Being the nice canine I am I sat next to her and assisted while she, with shaking paws, inserted Joey’s picture into her card. The class was a resounding success with everyone asking if I could bring Joey to future classes… we’ll see, was my response. Management was so overwhelmed they asked me if I would consider doing one special event class each month this year. I didn’t have to think twice about answering - it was a barking yes! The only catch was that Joey must accompany me….. I suppose I can handle that as long as I’m still “top dog”! ~ HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY ~
