DENA’S NOVEMBER 2010 SCRAPPERS DOG BLOG Eek! It’s November already and I’m not anywhere near being ready for the festive season! Typical me… With that in mind I’ve decided to make my own Christmas gifts this year. To begin I checked my favourite crafty store’s website for ideas. One class caught my eye immediately - “Victoria’s Class”. I wondered if it was affiliated with “Victoria’s Secret” but soon found out it wasn’t. How disappointing but making a recipe book might be interesting and a good idea for Christmas gift giving. I booked right away as it was a small class. The day of the class arrived and I was first on the scene, as usual! Everyone arrived shortly thereafter. There were only eight of us but a noisy eight! Beside myself there were three other Bassets so we sat and drooled together before the class started. The rest of the class, four other breeds, all sat in awe of us – the “four drooling hounds”! Victoria, our instructor arrived and did a roll call. Everyone was in attendance except one – Basset Brad. By now everyone was curious – who was Brad and where was he? We waited and waited until Victoria announced we would wait no longer! She then gave us individual kits to begin our recipe book. Just as were starting Basset Brad arrived with enough paraphernalia for at least ten classes. Must be a newbie to the craft scene. After speaking with Victoria he approached our table (Basset table) and located himself right next to me. I didn’t mind as Brad is my type of Basset, short on words but big on brawn… woo…woo! The class progressed very well with the exception of Brad who appeared to be in panic mode as he hadn’t yet removed his card stock from the kit. What a slow poke! Our instructor, noting I was well ahead of everyone, asked me to help out - which I did in the blink of a Basset eye! Thankfully Brad was a fast learner and we both finished on time. I was so proud of myself and so was the instructor that she had me take a bow amidst the daggers of jealousy that were coming my way. Since I was most successful in this class, especially as a temporary instructor, I may look into the possibility of becoming a full fledged instructor.
